In many Transylvanian grasslands, we still find most of the plants that indicate a healthy ecosystem. Yet the rapid developement from small-scale farming to industrial monocultures is a threat to the biodiversity of the Podișul Hârtibaciului. If we take a look outside, at most of the central European countries, we see the most likely future of Transylvania: how the biodiversity is being lost and how these indicator plants are endangered or already exterminated. This series aims to look closely at these plants, so seemingless, and yet the key to a healthy ecosystem. The observer can see the minimalistic beauty which is about to die, and say goodbye - or decide to act. The Series Plant Portraits is an ongoing project (since 2022), with the focus on high nature value (HNV) indicator plants for dry grasslands, photographed with Linhof Technika large format on Ilford fp4 and Ilford hp5 film.
