TRANSCARPATHIA

March 2022: I am in Transcarpathia, the most southwestern oblast in Ukraine. Around me is a group of people who have fled here from more eastern regions, volunteers from all over Europe and local people. It has been a long day, all working together to distribute the aid that arrives at the local warehouse, organise buses for the evacuation of people and to house refugees and integrating them. We toast with with a glass of wine. „To peace!“, I hear. Thousands of people have formed organisations in a very short period of time, networked and are doing their best to reduce the suffering in the country. This small group is one of them. For two and a half weeks I am part of it, get to know the people, hear their stories, take photographs and document.
